Behind ReflectMe

Dear Reader,

Thank you for being here, I am Sanjana Agarwal, the founder of ReflectMe Inc. I am a senior at Babson College, located in Wellesley, MA. At 18, I struggled with anorexia, which led me to question why I hated my appearance so much.

I looked around and never saw anyone who looked like me in movies, TV shows, books, or my dolls. Fun fact: Barbie was originally a gag gift for men before being sold as a toy to young girls. This inspired me to develop ReflectMe—a personalized doll that represents every girl. I will never forget when we gave 4-year-old Cheyenne a doll that looked like her, and the first thing she said was, "She's pretty." But the doll looked just like her. This made me believe that if I can make one girl feel beautiful, I can make so many girls feel beautiful. The doll is backed by child psychiatrists and play therapists who believe it can boost a girl's self-esteem and serve as a powerful adjunct to at-home therapy activities related to identity, self-image, self-esteem, and creating a strong sense of self for every girl.
